“What contribution as employee can I …”, seminar run by Jorgen Oom

To invite well-known business gurus to corporate conferences and seminars has become a common practice in Russia and Ukraine in the pre-crisis times. In Belarus, in fact, there are a few companies that are able to invite a well-known Western expert for holding a seminar for their employees.


Thanks to its scale effect and justifying its function as an integrated information resource, by joint efforts Armtek Group of Companies managed to implement something that would be very difficult to do to our participants individually. We invited a well-known Swedish psychologist Jorgen Oom who worked on the motivation of the Olympic Games champions and Wimbledon winners. He was also engaged in strengthening competitiveness for more than 180 companies and organizations all over the world.


It was not an easy thing to contact Mr. Oom. Only after a long correspondence with him we agreed on carrying out of a seminar. Four months ahead of time Jorgen booked for us two dates that were free in his schedule at that time. Jorgen could offer these dates taking into account the possibility of holding a seminar for all the employees of the Group of Companies, in Belarus as well as in Russia. The following theme was proposed – “What contribution as employee can I make to strengthen the culture of my company?”

The seminar was based on the main ideas that Mr. Oom promotes in all his lectures, but there were also some principles that were specially adapted for Armtek. In order to make the most efficient use of the time of the seminar, Jorgen insisted on inviting of highly professional simultaneous interpreters. Each participant of the seminar was provided with special equipment that allowed to hear Russian translation of the speech of the presenter without any delays or disturbances.

The seminar was very successful. It is easier to quote the feedback of Jorgen Oom on the event:

Then the lectures… To start with, excellent interpreters, Nicolay and Vitaliy. A nice mixture of extreme professionalism and a sense of humour about things. They really helped in getting my message across. And the way you had prepared the Russian presentation: super!!
 
I was also impressed by the interest shown by your employees. To start with, they were a bit defensive, but soon they "dared" to start to laugh and enjoy the lecture. Especially I felt this in Minsk. And in Moscow even 10-15 people came up and asked for my autograph in the program!!! That never happened to me before! I think it has to do with people in former Soviet Union look up and respect authorities a lot more than what is the case in Western Europe.

So, I´m sorry, but there is nothing I could think of that I disliked ....

Who is Jorgen Oom?

Jorgen Oom is a Doctor of Psychological Science from Swedish town Goteborg, specializes on questions of motivation, influencing attitudes, customer psychology, team building. He is also trained in hypnosis.
