FAG
History of FAG Company (FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schafer AG, Schweinfurt, Germany) began in 1883, when in Schweinfurt, Germany, a 34 year old engineer Frederick Fisher developed a ball grinding machine. This machine made it possible to process a great number of hardened steel balls to absolutely round shape. Thanks to this invention ball bearings began to be actively applied all over the world.
The growing market of bearings initiated foundation of a new enterprise. And in the year 1986 a new factory was built that became the first FAG factory. In September 2001 INA Holding Schaeffler KG announced its intention to acquire the majority of FAG Company’s shares and in 2003 the process of share acquisition was completed and FAG became a part of INA.
At the moment FAG is one of the world leaders in the sphere of ball and roller bearing production for automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, machine-tool construction and various branches of mechanical engineering. Over 18 000 people are employed at the enterprise’s factories, situated in 25 cities all over the world.
Nowadays FAG can boast of its own productions in Korea, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, in the majority of countries of North Europe, the USA, Brazil and China.
