Foreign Brand Vehicles Occupy Only 11% of Truck Park in Russia

At the moment Russian truck park numbers about 3,5 mln vehicles (without regard to LCV). 79% (2,76 mln pcs) of the country’s park falls to the share of Russian brand vehicles. Another 10% of the park belongs to commercial vehicles, made in Belarus and Ukraine (348,3 K pcs). The park of foreign brand trucks on the territory of Russia numbers 381,6 K vehicles, which corresponds to 11% of the total quantity. Such data are provided by analytical agency «AUTOSTAT» in its latest survey «Structure and Forecast of Truck Park in Russia».

The analysts state that over two thirds of the country’s park (67,3%) belong to only three trade marks  – «GAZ» (24,9%), «KAMAZ» (21,4%) and «ZIL» (21%). Though overwhelmingly all these vehicles are old and extremely worn-out. 84% of domestic trucks, registered in the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, are over 10 years old. Commercial vehicles made in the CIS belong to almost the same age group (68,8% of the park fall to the share of vehicles over 10 years old in this segment).

And Russian park of trucks of foreign origin is on the contrary significantly younger. According to «AUTOSTAT» vehicles over 10 years old in the segment of foreign brand trucks make up less than a half (46,9%). Swedish Volvo keeps leadership among them, which park is 45,8 K vehicles (12% foreign brand trucks). A second place with a slight lag of five odd K vehicles goes to MAN, to which share fall 10,5% of the park. A third place belongs to German brand Mercedes - 38,2 K vehicles and 10% of the park. Next with a small lag comes Scania (34,5 K pcs), its share in the park is 9%. The TOP-10 also includes: Isuzu (6,1%), Mitsubishi(5,7%), Nissan (5,4%), Freightliner (4,9%), Hino (4,6%) and DAF (4,5%).
