The Russian car market is “in plus” following the results of the first half-year
Sales of passenger cars and LCV in Russia are growing for the third month running due to action of the utilization program. According to Association of the European Business, in June the Russian car market grew by 45% up to 174838 units. Besides, this is by 10.7% over the index in May (157937 units). Following the results of six months of 2010 the Russian car market is also “in plus” - sales grew by 3% up to 790517 cars.
According to ÀÅB, the state stimulating programs continue to make positive impact on the low price segment but now obvious growth is observed in all segments of the market also due to availability of credit programs and growth of consumer optimism. In this connection ÀÅB expects some deficiency of cars in the third quarter and sharp growth of sales towards the end of the year. According to the updated forecast of ÀÅB, in total in 2010 1.67 million passenger cars and LCV will be sold in the Russian market.
The brand Lada keeps leadership in the Russian car market - in June AVTOVAZ realized 51172 cars that exceeds the index of last year by 77%. Last month AVTOVAZ realised 22.8 thousand Lada cars under the recycling program that is by 14.3% more than in May. Thus if in March AVTOVAZ sold 24.7% of cars under “eco-bonuses” then in June the share of “utilization” cars in realisation of Lada reached already 44.5%. Chevrolet keeps the second place which realization decreased by 2% to 10435 cars. The best seller Chevrolet Niva showed growth of sales in 1.5 times, Aveo – by 15% but realization of Lacetti, on the contrary, decreased by 2%. Kia is still on the third place, sales of the Korean brand grew by 91% and made 10050 cars. Ford rose to the fourth place which showed the greatest growth among "ten" leaders - by 115% up to 9804 cars. The best seller, Focus, in many respects provided such high positive dynamics to the American brand which occupies more than 77% in the realisation volume of Ford, its sales grew in 2.8 times up to 7565 units. Thus Renault loses positions for the second month running and following the results of June closes "five" of leaders with 8528 sold cars (+19%). Thus sales of the budgetary sedan Logan, on which 64% of realisation of the brand fall, remained at the last year"s level because of deficiency of cars in June. Daewoo (7395 units, +77%), Hyundai (7360 units, +47%), GAZ (6969 units, +38%), Toyota (6922 units, +28%) and Nissan (6105 units, +58%) are also in ÒÎÐ-10 of the best sold brands following the results of June.
